Whose got dapples?!

While I am busy working on Bucky's lameness, Haley also continues her training. She has made great progress in the past few weeks, she is now longing - walk, trot, halt both directions very nicely, leading well, yielding to halter pressure, and has become much more attentive.

I still primarily have to lunge her on a line because she will jump out of my little "round"(its actually square) pen, when she's had enough. The fence is only about 4 feet tall and it has never occurred to the other horses to leap out, but Haley figured this out in about 5 minutes. She is a terrific jumper.

We are working on desensitization now and she literally yawned as I flapped a saddle blanket all over her body. The flag took all of 5 minutes to get over. So today I saddled her up. This mare has obviously been ridden at some point, she knows to hold her breath when the girth is put on!

So after assuring her I was NOT going to girth her too tighly I showed her what being saddled is all about - relaxing and eating grass of course! She's almost ready for her "first" ride, how exciting!

Look at her dapples! Now if we could just add a tail . . . her papers from AMHA also arrived last week, she's offically registered to us now.

Large ponies / small horses . . .

There are some of the ponies and horses awaiting new homes at Spring Hill Horse Rescue in Clarendon, VT. They were neglected, are skinny, and need some TLC.

Gina suspects this 2yo filly is at least part Morgan, she has very fine legs and gorgeous coloring, it looks as though she will shed out a rich palomino.

Pretty dark bay mare, medium sized pony, with a very kind eye. Is trained to ride, but a bit forward and needs an experienced rider.

Aged large pony mare, black with greying, very sweet, really deserves a retirement home where she can be loved and cared for.

Paint / Pinto Ponies . . .

"Rodeo" is a very nice looking small pony filly, she is a very nicely marked sorrel overo with flaxen mane and tail and white blaze and stockings. She needs handling / basic training and is a little shy at first. She is naturally very inquisitive and playful. Will be a very flashy pony for someone!

Very cute small to medium size young pony mare, she is a very prettily marked palomino pinto!

Black and white medium to large size pony.

"Haley" a 6yo Buckskin Morgan mare will also be headed to her new home very shortly!

"Sassy" a 4yo pinto mare has joined another SHHR rescue "Bucky" at her new home. You can read more about Bucky on his blog. She is loving all the attention.

"Violet" the pregnant spotted mini donkey also found a loving home where she is enjoying a warm stall with plenty of feed.

"Buffy" a young palomino overo mini mare has found a loving home in Southern VT, along with her bay overo friend "Bluebelle" (below).

Mini mare & foal . . . ADOPTED

Adorable fuzzy mini baby and mom . . . mom appears to be a silver dapple and foal a soft chestnut. Baby is quite thin, so ideally they would be adopted together. These two are jokingly called the "mini Belgians". **ADOPTION PENDING**
